So, let's get together, share some food and listen to music!
Website: Waffle House Fight Club
Drew Lance, Brian Kasmarzik and Mark Hochbeg team up to play whatever the rowdy crowd throws at them.
This show will include Live Karaoke (if you're brave enough to sing with the band). Sign up in advance to let the band know what song you want them to be ready to play with you.
We'll also have inter-table competitions to pick the best songs/style combinations. Come eat waffles, pick songs, cheer for your favorites and have a great time.
Day of the show:
6-7: Arrive, share desserts and snacks, hangout, chat with the musicians
7-7:45: Round 1
7:45-8:15: Intermission
8:15-9ish: Round 2
I've got a few shows scheduled for fall of 2026. But instead of booking a lot of bands for the fall, I'm talking with local musicians and others about some new show formats and concepts.
We will definitely do Songwriter Showdown 3!
ilyAIMY (ill YAY’ mee) will be comiong to town and they like board games. So, we'll have a 1/2 day board game event before the show on September 12th.
A magic show with music.!?
My friend Kevin Desrosiers (MC of Songwriter Showdown 1 and 2) is also a magician and he's offerred to arrange something with his fellow magicians in the St. Louis chapter of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. I want to include music . . .
A dueling band show with audience participation
Closed Mic night.
My friend John Garbo organizes the Songwriter Showcase at the Focal Point. He has started a new series that is the "best of the open mic'ers in St. Louis." It is called, "The Sutton Boulevard Sessions." I love that idea and may steal it for a show (hopefully with his help).
Here is a link to the next show: https://thefocalpoint.org/event/focal-point-presents-the-sutton-boulevard-sessions-2/
By creating an email list of people that are interested, I hope to inform people about upcoming events that they would enjoy.
My intention is to find 40-70 people that are excited to attend for each show. That is the number of people that I think utilizes the space well, ensures that the artists can make some money, and creates an intimate feel for the show. By joining the email list, you can hear about the shows as I schedule them and be reminded to reserve your spot. I will monitor the list of people that have indicated their intention to attend. If the number of people that have RSVP'd reaches the limit, I'll send out a notification that the event is full and close the reservation form.

Barak's website: https://barakhill.com/
Barak Hill is an Americana singer-songwriter with roots in folk, soul, and rock and roll. Barak's talents were recognized when he was chosen from among thousands of entrants as the winner of American Songwriter Magazine’s Santa Cruz Guitar Song Contest. He was also voted one of Southwest Missouri's top three solo musicians by 417 Magazine readers.
Barak’s songs and sound run in the same vein as artists like Ray LaMontagne, Steve Earle, and Amos Lee. Lyric-driven, heartbroken Americana hanging on to a fistful of hope that things might just get better, delivered with a soulful voice and strong guitar work.
Barak has shared stages with national acts like Jay Farrar (Son Volt) and Amanda Shires (The Highwomen), as well as regional legends like Big Smith and The Ben Miller Band. Playing around 150 shows yearly has made him a confident, dynamic performer whose original songs, along with a handful of cherished covers, connect with audiences on a deep level.

Jeremy Facknitz has already played at the JohnnyLingo concert series so this will be his 2nd show. His show was one of my personal favorites.
His style was unique and approachable. He took on big topics by singing songs with small subjects. Like, a song about a tiny town that survived the flooding Mississippi that was also about hope. Or, a song about a "cup of noodles" that was also about making things work when you don't have much. Or, a song about getting a haircut that was also about progressing to a new stage of life.
His performance was remarkable. He filled the room with music (without blasting off the roof) and kept everyone enthralled.
Jeremy Facknitz website: https://jeremyfacknitz.com
From his website:
Jeremy Facknitz’s new album is titled Smilin’ At The Future, a caption from his high school graduation photo in the hometown newspaper. If the songs smile at the future, it’s not idealism but a need to transcend the struggle of the present and the wounds of the past. This is the sixth record by the two-time Kerrville Grassy Hill New Folk Songwriting Competition finalist, and it’s his strongest songwriting and most imaginative music yet. Facknitz describes his music as “indie rock with a made-for-the-theatre twist. I’m a singer-songwriter, but I’m not 3 chords and the truth - I’m 8 to 15 chords and poetic cynicism. Less like John Prine and Townes Van Zandt - more like Elvis Costello and Lin Manuel Miranda.”
